The Café Chronicles - Machine Laundry Cafe

Tucked away at the end of Salamanca Square, amidst colourful umbrellas and giant chess boards, sits the Machine Laundry Café.

Named for the bank of washing machines and dryers that form the working Laundromat on one side of the café, this café is the perfect spot for a bite to eat…even if you have no washing

Situated in the bustling cafe district of Salamanca, the Machine Laundry Cafe is perfectly placed for a quick meal before browsing galleries or market stalls.

Ambience:

Funky bright colours, teamed with an eclectic mix of retro formica tables make the Machine Laundry Café a fun spot for a feed.

Seating:

Indoor and outdoor seating provides many options. The tables inside fill up fast, especially in the colder weather, but the outdoor tables have a large shade sail above and are protected from all but the harshest conditions.

Menu:

Modern takes on classic meals mean that there is something for everyone on the menu.

Ordered:

We ordered Eggs Benedict (surprise!) and the Old New Egg Dish.

The Old New Egg Dish consists of a slice of garlic sourdough, topped with beetroot relish and then covered with a layer of scrambled eggs and feta. This is finished off with some fresh rocket.

It’s the perfect blend of sweet, creamy, salty and bitter and is the inspiration for my Roasted Beetroot Quinoa.

The Eggs Benedict is a classic dish of two slices of sourdough, topped with perfectly poached eggs, nestled alongside some delicious perfectly cooked bacon and then dressed with a creamy hollandaise sauce.

Drinks:

Mark had a cappuccino, as usual and it came in a good sized mug. He said that it was a good strong brew.

I had a brewed soy chai, which was served with a dish of honey for sweetening and was absolutely divine.

Try:

While reading the menu, I was mesmerised by the "fat ricotta hotcakes with spiced poached pear, chocolate biscotti, salted caramel sauce and vanilla mascarpone".
