The Café Chronicles - Seagrass, Long Point
Seagrass, Long Point 19 Beach Road
Sandy Bay TAS 7005
Open: Tuesday - Sunday
We stumbled across Seagrass by accident while looking for somewhere else completely.
Our son used to do sailing at a nearby yacht club and we we talking about those days and driving past the area when we spotted Seagrass.
Decision made, we headed there for our traditional weekend breakfast date.
Ambience:
The interior styling is brilliant, with ropes and sea shells bringing a nautical theme to the styling while never veering into tacky. The light and bright, plant filled interior was a beautiful space to sit and watch the water out the window.
The service was some of the best we've ever had, and if you know me you know how much that means.
Seating:
Ample seating inside and even more out on the deck area overlooking the river. This seating can be configured into large or small numbers with little fuss.
Menu:
The menu was small, but delicious.
Modern takes on classic breakfast items would be my description.
Ordered:
Mark had the Big Breakfast of poached eggs, bacon, mushroom, chorizo and tomato with the best homemade hashbrown we've ever eaten (yep, I stole a bite)
I had the Smashed Avo with goat's milk feta, coriander and pickled red onions, and I added a poached egg.
The combination of the avo, feta and pickled red onion is one that I will absolutely be replicating myself.
Drinks:
Surprise! Mark had a cappuccino, and said that it was beautifully balanced.
I had a long black, which was rich and strong without being bitter.
Try:
The Millet Muesli, with chia seeds, toasted coconut, banana and lime syrup sounds intriguing.
