The Café Chronicles - Abundance on the Quay
Abundance on the Quay Shop 1/5 Clarence St
Bellerive TAS 7018
Open: 7 days
A little while ago, I put the word out on my instagram feed asking for cafe recommendations.
One of my followers suggested Abundance on the Quay (Thanks Anna!)
We don;'t often head over the the Eastern Shore but next time we do, we'll be heading back to this oasis, located just a block from the waterfront.
Ambience:
Timber, polished concrete and airy light make this a welcoming and relaxing space.
The addition of a small boutique at the rear of the room makes it extra attractive to us females.
I love the plants featured around the room.
Seating:
Although the space is relatively small, they haven't fallen prey to the desire to cram as many tables as possible in there.
There is ample seating, with enough space around each table and chair to allow for privacy.
There is also a bench and seats outside in the breezeway.
Menu:
Fresh, healthy and housemade are the high points of this menu.
I could have ordered the entire menu.
Ordered:
The manly one ordered poached eggs and hollandaise with greens on sourdough, with an addition of the Cygnet smoked bacon.
The bacon was very fine, almost shaved, which was unusual but otherwise his breakfast was delicious.
I ordered the smashed avo with whipped feta on sourdough, with cherry tomatoes and an extra poached egg.
The avocado was plentiful, which you don't often see and the egg was delicious and poached perfectly. The whipped feta was a bit garlicky for my taste, but nothing too extreme.
Drinks:
I had an almond milk latte and the big guy had his usual cappucchino.
I love that they use my favourite local roast, Synergy from Villino Coffee Roasters
Try:
Mark wants to try the housemade beans with turkish pide, avocado, baby spinach, grana and garlic aioli and I want to dig in to one of their Abundance Bowls which are updated on the menu daily.
